We’ve waited and waited for the next Black Ops game, the second Treyarch Call of Duty game to be granted a proper two-year development cycle. At long last, that wait is over. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is coming to a Target near you. Recent photographs of the pre-release cards confirm that the release date for the game is November 13th, 2012. While we already knew that (how could you miss it amid all those hints we’ve seen Activision dropping lately?), it’s always great to see another confirmation.
The pre-order cards do say the game release date is subject to change, but that’s just standard procedure for a product like this. We’re pretty sure that Activision isn’t going to miss the big day. November the 13th is a rare total eclipse of the sun, and as such it’s become a marketing tool for Activision. It’s a memorable date, and its implications are that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be an equally rare and memorable game. Since Call of Duty games come out each year, it can be tough not getting too repetitious. Activision’s decision to release in conjunction with the eclipse implies that this may be a singular addition to the franchise. The excitement will rise to a new peak on May 1st. Tune into TNT to watch the official Black Ops 2 reveal during the basketball playoffs and experience a taste of what’s to come!
