After all these months of searching for every scrap of news and evaluating every rumor about the next Black Ops game, it’s finally time for some answers. One answer we do have is that Black Ops 2 really is going to be the next Treyarch Call of Duty game. What are all the questions we have yet to answer? We have no idea when the game will take place. Will it follow directly from its predecessor or will it take place sometime in our own future? We also don’t know whether the new multiplayer modes we’ve heard rumors about are real. And maybe the biggest question of all is whether the zombies are making a comeback.
The great news is that we’re probably going to get answers to some of our questions soon. And we’re likely to also generate a lot of new questions based off of what we see on May 1st! What’s happening on May 1st? The official reveal will be airing on TNT during the basketball playoffs. This is your chance to tune in and find out more about Black Ops 2.
The game isn’t due out until November 13th, a date we’ve seen confirmed by posters, Target pre-order cards and most recently a logo which was leaked to the site Gaming Everything and which looks official. We also saw another confirmation of the release date in the form of the word “Eclipse,” which graced some official posters. November 13th is the date for a total eclipse of the sun. While some fans originally believed that “Eclipse” was going to be the name of the new game, we now know that it refers only—or mostly—to the release date. There could be more to it than that though! Is Black Ops II going to eclipse its predecessor and the other games in the Call of Duty franchise? We think there’s a pretty good chance that it will. This game has the potential to be the best in the series to date.
